Since I was a child I’ve wanted to be a great actor. Not an actor entrenched in ego and fame, but one who captivates her audience; taking them on a wild journey where they might learn something about themselves. After graduating from Tisch School of The Arts at NYU I’ve had some luck in pursuing my dream. I’ve recurred on television series, appeared in national commercials, and performed in front of hundreds of people on stage.
I think great actors, like great teachers, must be masters at connecting and relating to people. Although finding work as an actor can be difficult, I have found different ways to fulfill my desire to perform for and influence others. I’ve enjoyed working as a bartender and sales associate, which have brought me the opportunity to engage with people from all over the world. However, the most rewarding of jobs was teaching High School students about art at the Metropolitan Museum during an internship. I felt impassioned to get the students to connect with the material and I was thrilled to see these teens having fun while learning. I took this as an indication to explore the teaching world further.
I began teaching ESL with the online school 51Talk a year and a half ago. I’ve taught over two thousand lessons, both group classes and one on one. My students have come from all walks of life and I’ve had the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of lessons. I have experience teaching small children the alphabet, prepping college students for TOEFL/ IELTS exams, and training businessmen for their work presentations. My teaching style is conversation based, I find that building the student’s confidence in speaking is key to learning a new language. Due to my experience as an actress my greatest strength is in accent correction and pronunciation, it’s vital not only to speak but to be understood.
I am a highly efficient and motivated person with strong communication and leadership skills. My schedule is flexible and I am always enthusiastic about meeting new people and learning about their culture.
