My name is Alexandra and my passion is to help others learn a foreign language. I am a native English speaker and I also speak Spanish to near native level. I have lived in Spain for many years teaching English and have also taught Spanish in the UK.
My qualifications include a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education) to Teaching Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) in secondary schools and the CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching to Adults) course to qualify me to teach English as a foreign Language. I have 20 years' of teaching experience, including all different levels (beginners to advanced) and age groups (infants to adults). I have prepared students for Cambridge (Starters - Proficiency) and Oxford (Trinity) exams. Studying Spanish and Portuguese at university gave me a full understanding of the challenges faced when learning a language, from building vocabulary to deciphering verb tenses.
My approach to teaching is flexible, I can adapt to the needs of the learner. The main focus is on conversation which can be structured around vocabulary, grammar or conversation topics. We can include games to help with retention using visual, digital and kinaesthetic tools and written explanations to help clarify any doubts. Of course, I am also happy to set and correct independent tasks if requested.
