I have been a professional teacher for 13 years. I spent 12 years teaching (all subjects) to ESL High School students in California. During that time, I was nominated for Teacher of the Year (through JCCASAC) and was promoted to Lead Teacher of my school. A year ago, I moved back home to Oregon to care for my mother and began teaching adult English learners online.
I love teaching. It is especially rewarding to help someone understand something that they have been struggling with. Everyone learns differently, and I enjoy getting to know my students and finding the best way to teach each person. Every student I work with is unique and so my classes are never exactly the same. The word most students use to describe me is "patient." Learning takes time, and you will progress at your own pace. As a teacher, it is my job to find a teaching method that works well for you. This can sometimes be a challenge, but I really enjoy it.
I live the in Pacific Northwest of the United States and enjoy hiking, camping and spending time with my husband and dog. Last year, I moved to the countryside and have started a vegetable garden and am keeping chickens! We may get Sheep in the spring!
I am an amateur astronomer and am fascinated by natural history, science. I also enjoy helping my students understand more about life and culture here in the United States.
