عني

Dear language lover, I am a French native passionate about languages - all of them, yes :D - and the specific cultures and countries they are related to. My favorite moment in language learning is when I finally reach the level I aimed for in a given language, sit back at my desk and start researching the next language I will occupy my time with (currently Hungarian... ^^). Just like when you choose in the library the next book you'll be reading...

After completing high school from a 'European studies class' with German as my main language - we had maths in German with a teacher who kept talking to us in Russian! -, I studied Applied modern languages with English and modern Greek. Already passionate about Greece and its language back then, I helped my fellow students who were struggling with strict teachers and old teaching methods inbetween classes, and in 2015, I went on to study translation in the UK and obtained my MA in 2015. During the first years after graduating, I was living in Greece and actively teaching French to Greek students, as French is the second foreign language learned in the country. All these experiences helped me realise how much I enjoy sharing my love of languages with others (especially the reluctant teenagers who were 'forced' by their parents to take French ;) . I have been working as a freelance translator for the last few years but would very much like to go back to teaching and sharing that beautiful language of mine with whoever wants to get onboard this great adventure with me!

I believe a teacher is one who guides her/his students through the labyrinth of a language, helps them build the specific skills they need in order to reach their own objectives and keeps them motivated along the way. In order for this to work, I believe the teaching/learning process should be fun, focus on the student's own centres of interest, and above all be adaptable to each student - for not everyone wants or needs to focus on grammar or literature, right? :-) .
